Good paint work starts with the surface underneath

Auto paint refinishing is only as good as the layers under the color. Before we spray any paint, a repaired panel may need shaping, feather-edging, corrosion protection, primer, block sanding, cleaning and careful masking.

We pay close attention to panel edges, body lines and the place where new paint meets the old finish. Clear coat makes any flaw left underneath easier to see, so we fix the foundation first. That step keeps a refinish smooth and consistent.

Prepare the surface
We check repair edges, sanding marks, primer and masking before any color goes on.
Evaluate the color
Your car's finish and test sprays guide the color adjustments for tone, brightness and metallic or pearl effect.
Apply and blend
We choose how to spray and where to blend based on the repair location and the panels around it.
Clear and inspect
Clear coat protects the new color, then we cure, finish and inspect the repaired area.

How we match paint to your car, not just the paint code

Two cars with the same factory color code can look different after years of sun, washing, earlier repairs and normal production variation. That is why we match the color to your car itself.

  • Metallic flake changes with spray angle, air pressure, and application distance.
  • Pearl and multi-stage finishes build color through more than one coating layer.
  • Curved panels reflect light differently from flat spray-out samples.
  • Blending can soften the transition where a direct panel match would remain visible.

When your car needs paint and refinishing

We inspect the damage first, because not every paint problem starts or ends in the top layer. A small dent with unbroken paint may not need paint at all: paintless dent repair can often fix it.

Collision repairs
Panels repaired or replaced during collision repair need a paint plan that accounts for their location, the color next to them and reassembly.
Deep scratches and chips
Damage through the clear coat and color may need sanding, surface repair, primer and new paint.
Peeling or failed clear coat
Failing clear coat has to be removed or stabilized before new paint can bond to a sound surface.
Previous repair defects
Rough texture, sanding marks, visible edges or a color mismatch from an earlier repair are diagnosed before we correct them.

What we check before you pick up your car

We review the finish as part of the whole car, not as a patch of color. The work comes from an I-CAR Gold Class shop with ASE certified technicians, and qualifying repairs carry our lifetime workmanship warranty.

  • Color transition across the repaired area and adjacent panels
  • Surface shape, gloss, texture, and visible refinishing defects
  • Panel edges, openings, trim lines, and masking boundaries
  • Reinstalled handles, lamps, moldings, and related exterior parts
  • Care instructions for the new paint, including when it is ready for washing, waxing or auto detailing

Paint and refinishing questions, answered

How do you match new paint to the rest of my car?

We match to your car, not only the paint code. We look at its current color, the finish condition, any metallic or pearl effect and the panels next to the repair. Then we adjust the mix with test sprays and blend into nearby panels when that gives the most even result.

Can you paint only the damaged panel?

Sometimes. If the color and surrounding finish allow a clean match, we refinish only the damaged panel. Often the better result comes from blending color into the next panel, so the eye cannot find where new paint meets old. We tell you which approach your car needs during the free estimate.

Will refinishing remove deep scratches?

Yes, when the scratch is repaired and prepared before painting. A scratch that reaches primer, metal or plastic needs more than polishing or touch-up paint. We sand, fill or prime the area as needed, then refinish it so the repair sits level with the paint around it.

Can peeling clear coat be painted over?

No. If failing clear coat stays underneath, the new paint can lift with it. We remove or stabilize the loose material, prepare the surface correctly and then apply new color and clear coat. Painting over peeling clear coat only hides the problem until it shows through again.

Why does paint preparation take so much time?

Preparation decides how well the paint sticks, how smooth the surface is and how the finish lays down. Rushed sanding, masking, primer work or cleaning leaves defects that clear coat makes easier to see. Careful prep is the part of a refinish you never notice, and that is the point.

Does faded paint make color matching harder?

Yes, it can. Sun exposure and earlier repairs change how your car's paint looks compared with the original factory formula. That is why we evaluate the car itself in good light and adjust the color to match it, instead of relying only on the paint code printed on the vehicle.

When can I wash my car after it is refinished?

We give you care instructions for your specific repair when you pick up the car. The right timing depends on the materials used and how the finish cured. Follow those instructions before washing, waxing, polishing or applying any product to the new paint, and call us with any questions.
